Self compassion offers the benefits of self-esteem (strong mental health, stable sense of self worth) without the pitfalls (#narcissism, social comparison, ego-defensive aggression). Self-compassion is not self-indulgent or selfish because “…the more we are able to keep our hearts open to ourselves, the more we have available to give others…” You know how to be a good friend and comfort someone. I invite you to be a good friend to yourself. It’s easier than you think and it really could change your life.
